In keeping with this trend of being more motivated once the deadlines have passed, this was my latest little project... Modelled/textured in 2-3 hours in 3DS Max.

I should point out this was developed while following a tutorial by Pete Draper. A housemate lent me a book by Mr. Draper, which contains some interesting tutorials about imitating natural elements in Max, such as fire, water and earth. This one was in the "earth" category. Basically, its all the useful and interesting things they didn't have time to cover in our course (extensive use of procedural displacement mapping, top/bottom and blend materials, photometric lighting and fogging, etc.).

Thanks, the lighting and clouds took the longest to get right.. though you can't really see that in the final picture. Figures :P

And sorry, but the book was NewChris'... he told me some of the tutorials were online though and gave me a link to it, i'll find it for ya sometime.
